LAKE GEORGE paddling, Adirondack Park NY
Jan 22, 2025 - The lake iced over. Still a few hoodies on the open water near bubblers. Lots of mallards in West Brook + 2 black ducks. Jan 21, 2025 - Watched a bald eagle snatch a merganser & take it over to some ice for lunch with a friend. Jan 12 & 13, 2025 - 2 loons, pair of common mergansers, groups of hooded mergansers & buffleheads, goldeneyes, gulls. Dec 30, 2024 - 4 loons. Dec 18, 2024 - White winged scoters. Nov 17, 2024 - I've been waiting for a day like this - warmish, mostly sunny, with minimal wind. LAKE GEORGE kayaking. Air & water temp in the low 50s - I wore a wet suit. Saw mergansers, mallards, gulls, crows, 2 bald eagles, 8 loons, & 7 motorboats. 3.5 hours. July 3, 2024 - early morning June 28, 2024 - LAKE GEORGE kayaking - one more time before things get too crazy. Early morning temps in the Adks in the 30s & 40s with very low humidity - I can take that for 6 months. 8-9 am: almost peaceful, very light motorboat traffic. Soon saw a loon...
