Daniels Road State Forest article . Town of Greenfield Saratoga County Wilderness Rescue: On April 16, 2023, at 12:33 p.m., Ray Brook Dispatch requested Forest Ranger assistance with two hikers lost in Daniel’s Road State Forest. The hikers indicated they were on the trail, but became disoriented trying to find their way back to Daniels Road, where they had parked. Forest Ranger Lieutenant Ganswindt responded to the trailhead, used a pin of a subject’s location, and directed the hikers to walk in the proper direction. Lt. Ganswindt met the hikers on the trail and walked the two Clifton Park residents back to the trailhead by 2:46 p.m. The pair said they planned to hike five miles, but their trackers indicated they actually walked 13. They were hot, tired, and had blisters. The hikers were not prepared for the hike, were unfamiliar with the trail system, and did not have a map. Visit us on Facebook

The park has 28.5 miles of hiking trails. June 18, 2020 - MOREAU OVERLOOK hike. Moreau Lake State Park. 40 mins. to go up, very steep, gain ~800'; 30 mins. down. View over Moreau Lake to the E across the Hudson Valley to the Greens. Too hot with temp in the mid-80s, saw a couple of mosquitoes but none bit. Can hear Northway traffic. 2 miles. Going down: Nov. 6, 2016 - MOREAU LAKE STATE PARK (PALMERTOWN MOUNTAIN RANGE) ridge loop hike from parking area at height of land (700' elevation) on Spier Falls Road. Up Western Ridge Trail (yellow) soon steeply gaining 500'. Lots of ups & downs; mostly oaks (leaves off) & beech (yellow & gold leaves). Stopped for lunch at the viewpoint past junction #7 - nice view N to southern Adks - could see Crane Mtn & make out the fire tower on Hadley; fire tower on Spruce Mtn seen to the W; Hudson River belo...w. Backtracked a bit then took orange trail to white trail to Eastern Ridge Trail (blue). Lots of ups & d...
